Following a period of significant development under the current Headmaster, Gavin Horgan, Millfield is seeking to appoint an outstanding Deputy Head (Pastoral) to join its Senior Leadership Team from January 2027. This is a pivotal role at the heart of one of the most distinctive and dynamic schools in the country. The Deputy Head (Pastoral) will be the Head's key adviser on all matters relating to pastoral care, boarding and student welfare, providing strategic leadership across 19 boarding houses and a richly diverse community of young people from over 40 countries. The role carries genuine authority and scope, and is well-suited to a senior leader who sees their next appointment as a Headship of a great school.

The successful candidate will be a proven senior leader with significant experience in a boarding school environment and a deep commitment to the wellbeing and development of young people. They will bring expertise in safeguarding and child protection, strong strategic thinking, and the interpersonal skills to inspire trust among students, staff and parents alike. A postgraduate qualification in educational leadership is essential, along with a minimum of five years' teaching experience.
